Victoria Arlen is a famous American news anchor for ESPN. Other than that, she is also an actress, speaker, and model and is a former American Paralympian swimmer.
However, at the early age of eleven, Arlen developed two rare conditions, transverse myelitis and acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, which affected her spinal cord and left her in a vegetative state for four years. Despite doctors initially giving her a grim prognosis, Victoria made an incredible recovery and regained the ability to speak, eat, and move. After her recovery, about four years later, Victoria pursued a career in Paralympic swimming. She competed in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, where she won a gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle, as well as silver medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle, and 4×100-meter freestyle relay.
Moreover, following her success in swimming, Arlen transitioned to a career in broadcasting. She joined ESPN in April 2015 as a television personality and contributor. She contributed to various shows, offering her insights on sports and sharing her inspiring story. She also became one of the youngest on-air talents hired by the company.
Later in 2017, Victoria participated in Season 25 of “Dancing with the Stars.” She partnered with professional dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy and made it to the finals, finishing in fourth place. Additionally, in 2020, she became a co-host of American Ninja Warrior Junior where she replaced Laurie Hernandez.
