Sandra started her business career as a research associate at Aegis Capital Group. During her time there, she assisted in the research and analysis of retail stocks, prepared weekly stock newsletters for clients, and identified investment opportunities.

Smith broke into television as an on-air reporter for Bloomberg Television. In October 2007, Smith joined Fox Business as a reporter which resulted in her appearances on many FBN shows. She started appearing regularly on Don Imus’s show, Imus in the Morning, in early October 2009.
