Luke Dorris Biography

Luke Dorris is an American meteorologist, reporter, and weather anchor working at WPLG Local 10 News in Miami, Florida since joining the station in August 2017. He joined the station just in tie to cover Hurricane Iram. Besides his anchoring and reporting duties, he is also the Chief meteorologist for the station.

Prior to joining his current station, he worked as a chief meteorologist at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska from August 2012 to August 2017. Talking about his education, he originally began college studying automotive engineering, and landed a part-time job in a beer distribution warehouse. After a while, his life took a turn and he joined the University of Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology.

During his studies, he was fortunate enough to intern with Gray England, Michael Armstrong, and the weather team at KWTV in Oklahoma City. Later on, he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he eventually became the chief meteorologist at KLKN. While there, he covered many tornadoes, several thunderstorms, and snowstorms. Furthermore, he achieved the certified broadcast meteorology designation from the American Meteorological Society.
