Joanna Hernandez is a Mexican American journalist who presently works as an on-air reporter for “Chicago Tonight” and the first queer Mexican American reporter. She joined WTTW-Channel 11 PBS Chicago in July 2021.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Joanna worked as a bilingual reporter and assignment editor for News 12 Bronx and Brooklyn since May 2016.

During her tenure at News12, she also worked as a freelance assignment editor for WXTV an affiliate of Univision Communications in New York in 2018.

Hernandez started her journalism career as a reporter for Logan Square TV in November 2014 Moreover, she was an intern at NBC in 2013.
