Lt. Gen. Kellogg Biography

Keith Kellogg born Joseph Keith Kellogg Jr. is an American retired lieutenant general in the United States Army and a former United States government official. Keith previously worked in the Trump Administration as the National Security Advisor to Vice President Mike Pence, and as the Executive Secretary and Chief of Staff of the United States National Security Council.

Besides being a security advisor, he also worked as a National Security Advisor on an acting basis following the resignation of Michael T. Flynn.

Talking about his educational background, Keith attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School where he received his diploma in 1961. While working as an Infantry Officer, he earned an M.S. in international affairs from the University of Kansas and later proceeded to study senior-level management and diplomacy at the United States Army War College.

Keith comes from a family of four children and he is the second oldest. He has an older brother by the name Mike Kellogg, who is a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge.

Keith’s sister Kathy is a former actress who is now a clinical psychologist and his younger brother, Jeff, is a former Long Beach city councilman, served as President of the Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees, and now currently works for the California Community College system.

Kellogg is married to his beautiful wife Paige, who is a former U.S. Army officer and paratrooper who served during the 1983 U.S. invasion of Grenada. Together they are blessed with three children whose identity have not been disclosed to the public. The two love birds tied knots in the year 1980.

 Military Service

Talking about his career, Keith was commissioned into the Army through the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) at Santa Clara University as an Infantry Officer.

While working as an Infantry Officer, he earned an M.S. in international affairs from the University of Kansas and later proceeded to study senior level management and diplomacy at the United States Army War College. He was among the 101st Airborne Division who were actively involved in Vietnam War.

Lt. Gen. Kellogg Awards and Decorations

Due to his determination and hard work, he was noticed and was awarded for actions during the Vietnam War. He was among the first Lieutenant (Infantry) Joseph Keith Kellogg, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving with the 101st Airborne Division during Operation EAGLE THRUST in the Republic of Vietnam.

The fact that Keith pulled a wounded man from a fire line, then went on to attack an enemy bunker system with a machine gun during an air assault earned him a lot of respect from his seniors and fellow soldiers.
