Vladimir Putin Biography
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin is the current Russian president. He has also served as Russian prime minister under Dmitry Medvedev and President Yeltsin.
In 1990 Vladimir Putin was appointed as an advisor to the mayor of Leningrad on international affairs. The mayor was Anatoly Sobchak. He served in this position not until Sobchak lost his seat in Elections. This prompted Putin to move to Moscow.
Vladimir Putin Early Life
Vladimir Putin was born in 1952 on 7th October 1952 in Leningrad, Soviet union now known as St. Petersburg in Russia. His father served as a cook to both Lenin and Joseph Stalin.
His father also worked for the Soviet union army ,navy section .He was injured in the battle hence was transfered to be a regular serviceman.
His mother was a casual labourer at a factory in Leningrad. His brother Albert died in infancy while his other brother Viktor died of starvation and disease due to a seige mounted by Hitler’s Nazi forces on Leningrad during the second world war.
His family struggled to bring him up due to tough economic times after the war. He grew up as a lone child ,his elder siblings had died

KGB Career
Vladimir Putin joined the 401st KGB school in Okta in 1975. He served in second chief directorate before he was transfered to first chief directorate where he checked out on foreigners activities in and around Leningrad.
He worked for the KGB as an officer till he rose to the rank of a lieutenant colonel.
Political career

He was appointed Prime minister in August 1999 by Yeltsin .After the resignation of Yeltsin from presidency due to I’ll health,he took over as acting president while retaining his premier position.
He later vied for the seat and four months later,he clinched the presidency of Russia.
