The comedian first appeared as Mama Otis, a no-nonsense mother who deprived her son, Otis of sleep, for any actual or imagined wrongs. Later, he created other intriguing characters including Baba Otis, Akoth, and Bakari.

Comedy Background

Flaqo turned to comedy when it became difficult for him to break through in the Kenyan music industry. Flaqo used to watch Vines long before it was banned before he ever began comedy. He started making movies with his subpar phone, swapping between personalities, and imitating artists like Kenny Knox, Dope Island, and others.

When he posted the films on social networking sites like WhatsApp, his friends and acquaintances assumed he was insane, which demotivated him, and he stopped making videos. Then, in an effort to learn more, he turned to YouTube.

One day in August 2018, while his mother was out buying groceries, he made the decision to sneak in and record a little video because he was still exploring. He photographed Khaligraph Jones praying from a script.

After he posted it, it went viral and was extensively shared on social media sites including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. The films, which had previously been circulated primarily in Kisumu, his hometown, spread throughout Kenya and beyond national boundaries. In just two days, one specific video racked up around 10,000 followers.

Besides being a very funny comedian, Flaqo revealed in an interview that he was a singer way before he even started doing his comedy skits. Due to the stiff competition in the music industry, it made it hard for the comedian to rise above all.

He then made the decision to seek a means to stand apart, which is when humor entered the picture. August Alsina, whose songs include Soul Cry, Hold You Down, and Make It Home, is his favorite R&B performer. Flaqo asserts to knows every word of every one of his songs.
