Andrea Riseborough Biography
Andrea Riseborough is a British actress known for having appeared in over 50 films and television shows since her debut in 2006 with the film Venus. She has since appeared in more prominent roles in films such as Happy-Go-Lucky, Never Let Me Go, Shadow Dancer, and Disconet, among other great films.
Born in Wallsend, she grew up in Whitney Bay. She attended and graduated from Tyne Church High School in Jesmond. She then spent 5 years at the Young People’s Theatre which is an amateur theatre in Newcastle. Later on, she studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in 2005. As of 2023, she is a member o the National Youth Theatre.
Besides acting, Anderea received a BAFTA nomination for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the television film The Long Walk to Finchley. In addition, she won critical acclaim for her performance in the Channel 4 miniseries The Devil’s Whore (2008), and National Treasure (2016). Some of her stage credits include August Strinberg’s Miss Julie, and Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, among others.
Talking about her recent highlights, she appeared in the 2022 film To Leslie, for which she received critical acclaim and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She is set to appear in Geechee as Wren and also as Andrey Withers in Lee.
