Mr. Ruto was born December 21 in the year 1966in Kamugut village in the current Uasin Gishu county in Kenya. He is a politician currently serving as the Deputy president of the Republic of Kenya as from 2012. Ruto is the 11th principal assistant to the presidency in Kenya.

KANU
He served as a member of Kenya African National Union of Moi from the time he was a student at The University of Nairobi. It was at the University of Nairobi that Ruto met Moi and was politically motivated. He later joined YK92 which was a KANU youth wing lobbying for re-election of President Daniel Torotich Arap Moi in 1992. Samoei rose through the ranks of KANU to become the secretary general while President Uhuru Kenyatta was the chairperson. He resigned when he joined opposition politicians to form ODM
Orange democratic movement (ODM)
Mr.Ruto teamed up with the opposition politicians to form ODM when they opposed Mwai Kibaki’s constitutional reforms. They succeeded in shooting down the reforms which they felt didn’t address issues affecting Kenyans. He was a member of ODM’s top brass, the Pentagon.
He submitted his name for consideration to run as the party’s presidential candidate, unfortunately, he was floored by Raila Amolo Odinga who gained a majority of the votes. He then supported Raila for the election, which they claim was rigged by the then-incumbent president.
United republican party (URP)
Samoei formed the United republican party URP in 2012 which he used to form a coalition government with President Uhuru Kenyatta. He mobilized a strong voter bloc for the Jubilee government using his pro-political style He later disbanded this party in 2016 to form the jubilee alliance party(JAP).

Mr. Ruto joined jubilee party after striking a deal with the The national alliance (TNA) using his United republican party URP.
