Pete Carroll born ( Peter Clay Carroll ) is a former American football coach who is an advisor and executive vice president for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL).
Starting his coaching career at a professional level, Carroll saw minimal success with the New York Jets in 1994 and the New England Patriots from 1997 to 1999.
He had a hard time switching to college football with USC, he revitalized the struggling program into a top-ranked contender. According to reports, he is the most recent of four head coaches to win a college football national championship and an NFL championship: the others are Paul Brown, Jimmy Johnson, and Barry Switzer.
Upon completing his high school level, Pete attended junior college at the nearby College of Marin, where he played football for two years (lettering in his second year) before transferring to the University of the Pacific, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Carroll attended Greenbrae School before joining Redwood High School in Larkspur, California for his High School level. During his time there, Pete was a multi-sport star in football (playing quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back), basketball, and baseball, earning the school’s Athlete of the Year honors as a senior in 1969.
On April 2009, Carroll was inducted into the charter class of the Redwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Upon completing High School, he enrolled to a local college named College of Marin, where he played football for two years (lettering in his second year) before transferring to the University of the Pacific, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
